Finance
The Finance Department is responsible for providing professional financial management services as required by state statute and city ordinances. It conducts a range of financial functions as directed by the Common Council, the mayor, and the Administrative Committee, including treasury, finance, budget, and property tax operations.
The department's principal objectives include:

maintenance of a sound credit rating in the financial community.

use of prudent financial management practices.

preserve the fiscal health of the city.

provide knowledgeable courteous customer service to its customers.

accurately record financial transactions and provide centralized accounting services to City departments.

verify the public purpose of and compliance with municipal ordinances and budget documents.
The department prepares audited financial statements annually which summarize the city's financial condition.
